EMG/NCS Online Series: Volume X Single Fiber Electromyography
EMG/NCS Online Series: Volume X Single Fiber Electromyography The trio of Prof Erik Stalberg, Prof Joze Trontelj and Prof Donald Sanders have come together again for the “Single Fiber EMG” volume. You will begin by listening to didactic lectures of SFEMG principles and measurements. Then the authors will demonstrate the recording technique for the stimulation and volitional methods in commonly tested muscles of limb and face.
The use of concentric needle electrode for jitter analysis is also discussed and demonstrated. Technical aspects, such as filters and triggering devices, are illustrated. The product shows a collection of common and uncommon recordings in healthy subjects and also in patients with different neuromuscular diseases.
The authors provide a physiologic description of the phenomenon and analyze the recording. Finally, the authors discuss the technical and clinical aspects of SFEMG in a clinical EMG laboratory, e.g. the diagnostic strategy in neuromuscular junction diseases, use of repetitive nerve stimulation, etc. In this product you will see over 50 different SFEMG recordings, some performed live on a healthy subject and others from previous recordings in patients. You will hear and see the signals as if you are observing a real study. It will give you a good appreciation of the sound and display of jitter.
This product provides instruction for more than 4 hours. The authors also discuss the basic physiology of EMG signal, recording techniques and analysis that are applicable to routine and other EMG methods. It discusses EMG and pathology in other disorders such as in neuropathy and myopathy. Therefore, it will be interest to all electromyographers.
