  • This one-day evidence-based virtual program is designed to optimize the care of older adult oncology patients by advancing the knowledge and expertise of advanced practice providers. A general overview of key geriatric oncology topics will be provided including: the use of the comprehensive geriatric assessment; communication strategies in the assessment of older adults; and assessment of fitness versus frailty, resilience, and risk stratification prior to cancer-directed therapies.
  • Additionally, the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of cognitive impairment will be addressed, including the role of neuropsychiatric testing, cognitive rehabilitation, and psychopharmacology interventions. Participants will be introduced to geriatric collaborative programs in the context of breast medicine and bone marrow transplantation, and the intersection of geriatric medicine and palliative care will be discussed. Comprehensive geriatric care will be highlighted in academic, community-based, and international settings. Content proficiency will be assessed with pre and post-conference evaluations.
