Core Concepts in EP 2024 with Board Prep and Self-Assessment

Introduction

The Core Concepts in EP 2024 with Board Prep and Self-Assessment program from the Heart Rhythm Society delivers a comprehensive and board-focused review of modern clinical cardiac electrophysiology. Designed as an evolution of the Society’s highly regarded electrophysiology board review curriculum, the course provides a structured educational framework for physicians preparing for the ABIM Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology (CCEP) certification and recertification examinations while simultaneously strengthening practical electrophysiology knowledge relevant to everyday patient care.

The curriculum combines didactic lectures, case-based workshops, procedural reviews, ECG interpretation, invasive electrophysiology concepts, and advanced arrhythmia management strategies presented by internationally recognized electrophysiology faculty. Participants gain detailed instruction in arrhythmia mechanisms, pacing, catheter ablation, intracardiac mapping, implantable devices, electrophysiologic testing, antiarrhythmic pharmacology, and procedural safety.

Unlike condensed memorization-focused review courses, Core Concepts in EP 2024 emphasizes conceptual mastery and real-world electrophysiology reasoning through clinical correlations, electrophysiologic maneuvers, invasive and noninvasive arrhythmia analysis, and board-style educational reinforcement. The original HRS program includes a 100-question self-assessment examination. That provider component does not establish access to an interactive exam through this downloadable product.

Why This Course Is Important

Clinical cardiac electrophysiology remains one of the most technically demanding and rapidly evolving areas of cardiovascular medicine. Modern electrophysiologists must integrate advanced ECG interpretation, intracardiac mapping, arrhythmia mechanisms, invasive procedural strategies, catheter ablation technologies, pacing systems, implantable defibrillator management, imaging integration, and procedural safety into increasingly complex patient care environments.

At the same time, board certification and recertification examinations require detailed understanding of electrophysiologic principles, arrhythmia mechanisms, invasive diagnostic maneuvers, antiarrhythmic pharmacology, and advanced procedural concepts.

Core Concepts in EP 2024 addresses these demands through a highly structured educational framework emphasizing conceptual understanding, board-relevant clinical reasoning, invasive electrophysiology interpretation, and practical arrhythmia management. The program mirrors the complexity of contemporary electrophysiology practice while helping physicians develop both examination readiness and clinically applicable expertise.

What Participants Will Learn

Participants completing this program will strengthen their understanding of modern electrophysiology principles, invasive arrhythmia diagnosis, and evidence-informed rhythm management strategies.

The following are educational study goals, not guarantees of procedural competence, examination success or clinical outcomes:

• Describing current guidelines related to cardiac rhythm disturbance evaluation and management
• Understanding the role of electrophysiologic testing in bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias
• Identifying advantages and limitations of diagnostic electrophysiologic methods
• Applying pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic arrhythmia therapies
• Recognizing inherited arrhythmia syndromes and cardiac channelopathies
• Interpreting complex electrophysiologic tracings and ECG correlations
• Understanding catheter ablation principles and arrhythmia mapping strategies
• Interpreting pacemaker and ICD electrograms
• Evaluating imaging modalities including fluoroscopy, intracardiac echocardiography, and electroanatomic mapping
• Applying transseptal catheterization and epicardial access techniques safely
• Recognizing complications of electrophysiology procedures and understanding prevention strategies

The curriculum integrates board-focused learning with real-world electrophysiology decision-making and procedural interpretation.
