Cardiovascular and respiratory problems often overlap in primary care. This MER program reviews both areas through the September 4–6, 2026 meeting at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Florida. Cardiology subjects include prevention, hypertension, suspected coronary disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and acute chest pain. Pulmonology sessions address asthma, respiratory infections, COPD, lung cancer screening and pulmonary nodules. Case-based material connects these topics with diagnostic testing, treatment decisions and referral. The listing is intended for clinicians seeking a broad outpatient review, and retains the original learning objectives and detailed topic descriptions below.
Package scope: The topic descriptions follow the store’s existing MER 2026 curriculum listing. A complete September-specific agenda and its correspondence to delivered recordings have not been verified. MER registration, live participation, publisher accounts and accreditation services are not included.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:
- Implement lifestyle changes as well as lipid and cholesterol guidelines for the prevention of CAD.
- Explain current concepts in the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension.
- Describe the work-up, risk assessment and test selection of patients with suspected CAD.
- Utilize case-based learning to develop treatment plans for cardiovascular conditions.
- Diagnose and manage patients with asthma.
- Design treatment strategies reflective of current evidence-based medicine for common respiratory infections.
- Describe the current therapeutic management of COPD.
- Discuss diagnosis and screening strategies as well as treatment plans for lung nodules and lung cancer.
- Implement treatment strategies reflective of recent guidelines and current evidence based medicine for heart failure.
- Describe current diagnostic and treatment approaches to arrhythmias and atrial fibrilation.
- Describe current diagnostic approaches and the role of drug therapy to the patient with acute chest pain.
